Day 95 - Monday, October 20, 1997Packwood RV Park, Packwood, Washington - We're camping here in the foothills of Mt. Rainier, a most visually appealing mountain. When we arrived here they were burning piles of leaves. Too bad you folks back home have to rake them to the street and wait for Big Brother to haul them away!! The lady who runs the place, Rosie (she's very nice) says they've been at it for over a week and there are still tons of leaves still in the trees.Packwood is a cozy little town situated halfway between Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens. Close enough for day visits, but not so close that we will die in the event of an eruption of either volcano. You did know that Mt. Rainier is a dormant volcano, right? The sky is clear, so we expect it to get really cold tonight. We decided to hook up the exhaust from the car to blow inside The Den for heat. It seems to be working. We'd write more tonight, but we're getting sleepy.
