Day 91 - Thursday, October 16, 1997Elma RV Park, Elma, Washington - We drove through the sunshine to the Olympic Peninsula, which is west of Olympia and Seattle. We decided to stop in the logging town of Elma, which is in the middle of nowhere. After setting up camp we spent a couple of hours soaking up the sunshine. Believe it or not the sky was actually blue!!We decided to head out to the Pacific and catch our first ocean sunset. After all, it was a sunny day!! By the time we drove the 50 miles to Ocean Shores, the sky was completely gray. A light mist was falling, removing all hints of the sun. However, we were thrilled to see the Pacific for the first time (Puget Sound didn't count). Buck had a blast running on the beach, sniffing the dead crabs that had washed on shore. This was a milestone for us. Pull out your map and look at the northeastern part of Maine on the Atlantic. Now take a look at the northwestern part of Washington on the Pacific. We've covered that whole distance - over 3,300 miles! And all on one tank of fuel!!
