Day 9 - Saturday, July 26, 1997Knight and Look Campground, Rochester, Massachusetts- Danny is gone! The weather today is great! It's sunny and mild - almost a spring day back in Maryland. We drove the car to the Cape of Cod, took down the bikes, and rode the length of the Cape Cod Canal. It joins Cape Code Bay and Buzzard's Bay. If you're curious, the current flows north. This is one W-I-D-E canal. We saw lots of private boats and a couple of large ships, one of which was being towed by a tug. We also saw the Canal Police pull over a private boat for speeding!We started at Buzzard's Bay and rode up to Cape Code Bay. We hung out on the beach for a while, then walked out on the rocks marking the entrance to the canal. We sat down and ate some reduced fat Cheeze Nipz - we are really living it up! The ride south down the canal was kind of rough - it was against the wind the whole way!! All told we did about 15 miles of biking today. Back at the campground they had Christmas in July. Seasonal campers decorated their sites with Christmas lights. There was a chicken dinner followed by a Summer Santa distributing gifts to the kids. We got back too late to participate in the dinner, but we enjoyed looking at the lights.
