Day 87 - Sunday, October 12, 1997Lake Pleasant, Bothell, Washington -Sunday is NFL day!! We drove into downtown Seattle today to cruise around the city. In some areas it is like Baltimore; in other areas it is quite modern. The Space Needle is kind of neat looking. We didn't go in, but we drove by it! The ports aren't quite as quaint as they are in Maine, but we liked them. The roadways out here are kind of crazy. Everything seems to be an overpass or underpass. They don't have lines on the road here. They have reflectors - bumpy ones at that. Every time you change lanes you hear a thump, thump, thump. And when you turn on to a road you have to look for them, which can be awkward. They also put little eight inch concrete ridges near intersections so you can't turn early or take a left into a driveway near a corner. They are real control freaks out here. We stopped at a dive in the industrial are of the city to catch some of the NFL games. The locals were quite friendly, even giving us their free credits on a pinball machine. However, two guys did get into an argument over a $20 bet on a video golf game. This evening we treated ourselves using a 2-for-1 coupon at Baskin Robbins, which can be found every couple of miles around here. It was a delicious treat! We haven't had Baskin Robbins in a long time. Now you envy us again, don't ya?
