Day 68 - Tuesday, September 23, 1997

Virginian RV Resort, Jackson Hole, Wyoming - We're back among the living! Today was a beautiful day...thank goodness. We finally had the opportunity to visit Grand Teton National Park.

Our first stop was at Teton Glacier Overlook for a close-in view of the three Tetons (Grand, Middle and South). It was hard to get the perspective as to how large they were until we noticed a small white dot traveling in the air in front of the mountains. That dot was a helicopter! The Grand Teton is 13,770 feet tall. Jim climbed to the top and threw a roll of Charmin down to Marci.

We decided to hike along Cascade Canyon Trail. The three-mile trail circled around Jenny Lake and took us to a small set of waterfalls called Hidden Falls. These were very pretty and the perfect sight to honor our brother-in-law, Mark Randolph Rubin. We thought about playing sharks and minnows in the water but decided it was too cold. Instead, we dipped the tin cups he gave us into the water and drank a toast to the family.

Our final stop on the trail before we turned around was at Inspiration Point. This was a beautiful view overlooking Jenny Lake. The lake and sky were almost the exact same shade of blue. It was a refreshing site after all those cloudy days.

On our way back we came across a doe and her fawn feeding on the leaves. As we were quietly watching them another doe came across the hill. She almost walked right up to Jim. She stared at him the whole time probably trying to figure out where his antlers were.
