Day 53 - Monday, September 8, 1997

During the drive through the Rockies we noticed a funny smell in the car. We pulled over and discovered that we are leaking some oil. We decided to stop early and check it out further. Jim had to check under the hood for the leak. In order to move the air cleaner housing, he need a 10mm socket (a wrench won't fit). Hmm....Here's the 9, 11, 12, 13, and 14mm. And here are all the standard sizes... Gee, guess who lost that 10mm? That's right, BUCK!! So we had to get a 10mm socket somehow. It turns out that the guy camping across from us had a full set of sockets. So Jim knifed him and Marci rolled him for sockets!

We also took the opportunity to get a little shopping done. We had a problem with our cooler that we had to resolve (which we did). We bought some groceries and got a receipt-coupon for Taco John's - buy one combo meal, get one free. You know where we're eating tomorrow!!
