Day 15 - Friday, August 1, 1997
|
Duck Puddle Campground, Nobelboro, Maine - Today marks a couple of
milestones. First, we broke the two week mark! John, you now owe us twenty
bucks. Second, we have now driven over one thousand miles! Pretty nifty,
eh?
Duck Puddle Campground is located on the seven mile long Lake Pemaquid. Today we
got a chance to romp in the lake. Buck even went for a little swim, but his
bikini top kept falling down. All the other dogs kept pointing and laughing. We
met a few seasonal campers (folks whose campers stay here year round). These
local folks are really nice. One of them, Terry, worked up the nerve to ask,
"Are you the ones that have the Mercedes?" It seems we made quite an
entrance with our Tomato Wagon. Terry and company thought it was an hysterical
sight.
We took a relatively short bike ride around the surrounding area. We had to ride
really fast because we were being chased by horseflies that were biting us.
Being in a rural area, we took several dirt roads which led to properties along
the river. In over six miles of riding we encountered only four cars. None of
them hit us. Each driver waved as he passed. We're not sure if they're just friendly around here or if they're gawking at the people who drive the funny car.
