Day 107 - Saturday, November 1, 1997

Hiouchi Hamlet RV Resort - Hiouchi, California - When we awoke this morning The Den was oddly lit and the canvas walls were warm. We opened the door, walked outside and were blinded. There, high in the sky, was what some people call The Sun. It was a strange sight. We spent much of the day just relaxing in the sun. This afternoon we drove into Crescent City to find a sports bar, but couldn't find one. We even drove 20 miles back into Oregon, but couldn't find one there either. Then we checked the TV listings and found out the Redskins' game was nationally televised. Duh!

We're camped just outside of the National Redwood Forest, about five miles from Pacific coast, where the mornings and evenings are covered with fog. Overnight the winds whip up and blow The Den around a bit, waking us up. Overall is quite pretty.

We saw our first Pacific Ocean sunset today! We parked in town, climbed over the rocks and watched from the beach as the sun sank over the ocean. We were amazed at just how quickly it dipped past the horizon. We could actually perceive the movement. It was wild!
