Knight and Look Campground, Rochester, Massachusetts- We took a ferry to Martha's Vineyard. He didn't wanna go, but we made him! Nyuk!
Seriously, we took the Island Queen (no pun intended) from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard - Oak Bluffs to be exact. For the two of us and our bikes the cost was only $32 (plus another $8 for parking). The cruise was about 35 minutes. We rode on all three levels, which includes the top of the ship!
We spent the afternoon riding our bikes around the island. The houses were unique. It was clear that the designers thought about form first and function second. It seems that EVERY house is quaint and well kept. We rode along the northeast side of the island along the state beaches. On the beach we saw two black labs and a rottweiler chasing tennis balls into the ocean. They were having a blast!
Our brother-in-law Mark was the one who insisted we visit the island, so we phoned him from Edgartown to say thanks! From there we didn't make it to Chappaquiddick, but we did see a trail of empty beer bottles heading in that direction! Back in Oak Bluffs we strolled in some of the small shops. We also admired the many different types of boats harbored there. Some of the names were great (Jabberwoky, Susan Said So). If we ever get a boat we will call it Don't Read this. On the way home we stopped at a Stop and Shop and shopped. Marci found some Franken Berry (we never could find it in Maryland), which really excited her. Unfortunately Jim doesn't like that kind of cereal. This trip is turning out to be such a learning experience.
